KIDS GO FREE AT CARISBROOKE CASTLE DURING HALF TERM WEEK

Every day Saturday 14 until Sunday 22 February

Carisbrooke CastleCarisbrooke Castle will be opening its doors for free to children aged 16 or under during half term week to help families enjoy a great day out without blowing the budget.

From 10am until 4pm every day between Saturday 14 and Sunday 22 February children can enjoy free entry* to meet the castle donkeys, find out about their different characters, their favourite foods and who plays up at grooming time. They can pick up a quiz sheet to follow a fun trail around the castle and take a look at the castle’s museum which houses a toy exhibition and is packed with memorabilia and information about the Isle of Wight. There are guided tours to join each morning and afternoon, which bring the castle’s history to life.

A new film narrated by comedian Phill Jupitus introduces characters from the castle’s past and there are interactive displays to try out – including a crossbow to ‘fire.’ Carisbrooke is every inch a storybook castle with battlements to march across and a keep to climb. Famous as a prison to King Charles I visitors can see the room from which he tried to escape – twice!

The new Carisbrooke Shop will be open with a range of half term offers and after an entertainment-packed day out families can take a well earned break in the Coach House Tearoom which will be serving a selection of hot and cold food.

Admission is just £6.40 for adults and £5.10 for concessions. *Up to three children under the age of 16 will be admitted FREE with each full paying adult or concession. English Heritage members are also admitted free. For terms and conditions of the offer, visit www.english-heritage.org.uk/carisbrookecastle.
