“Extraordinary virtuosity…almost like hearing the pieces with new ears. A simply unmissable treat.” Classic F/M magazine

Richard Durrant, the virtuoso soloist, will be performing “The Guitar Whisperer”. An innovative show performed by one of the foremost guitarists of his generation; there really is no other guitar concert quite like it. Over the past year Richard Durrant has appeared in over 60 UK venues including The Royal Albert Hall with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Richard has also just released a new solo album: Recuerdos, Guitar Classics.
The Guitar Whisperer show begins as a recital of popular, virtuoso guitar music but quickly moves into its own highly individual territory blending recital music with new technology, projected animations, improvisation and storytelling. The performance includes works by Spanish and South American composers, Richard’s own compositions, JS Bach performed on Ukulele and Banjo plus Richard’s memorable take on Mike Oldfield’s Tubular Bell’s. The climax to the show is a cinematic version of Steve Reich’s Electric Counterpoint.
Richard’s individual approach to music extends to the instruments he plays. Luthier Gary Hearn has created the ‘Richard Durrant Concert Model’ which has received ecstatic reviews in the guitar press. In Richard’s own words: “At last Guitarists have the equivalent of a Steinway grand.”
The Guitar Whisperer is a popular and constantly evolving show which is now going back to venues for the third consecutive year – and still selling them out.
