With the new Spring term fully under way, Priory School are planning to host a Senior School and Sixth Form Scholarship Day on Monday 7th March. The “George Scholarships”, as they will be known, follow on the heels of the extremely successful “Albert Scholarships” launched in the Junior School in 2014.
Due to rapid school expansion and academic success, with former 6th Formers now at a range of Russell Group Universities, Priory School are in a position to offer, for the first time, scholarship entry to Senior School in September 2016.
They are open to all candidates and scholarships will be awarded on a basis of academic and general ability. Priory School above all welcomes and nurtures students who are keen to learn, as our ethos ensures they have the support to do so, recognised by awards won (Good Schools Guide Awards in 2010 and 2015).
The academic scholarships will be on offer for Year 7, Year 9 and for Sixth Form
(Year 12) and will comprise Mathematics, English and Science written examinations, interviews with the Principal, Edmund Matyjaszek, and Senior Tutors, and lunch with 6th Formers and staff. All candidates will be informed of the outcome before Easter.
The Scholarship Day will commence at 9am with a welcome from the Principal, the examinations in the hall, refreshments and lunch, then interviews.
The Sixth Form has an excellent track record of exceptional academic A-Level success, and UCAS preparation and University entrance.
All Senior & 6th Form students benefit from small class sizes, with a maximum of sixteen pupils per class in senior school, and small tutorial groups in the 6th Form, coupled with outstanding pastoral care. Our last Ofsted inspection in 2012 spoke of a “teaching team that is committed and dedicated to helping and supporting pupils learn”.
Central to the school’s philosophy as a “family school” is its Christian ethos, focusing on the development of each pupil and their individual worth. From Reception through to Sixth Form, students receive a first class education, and are actively encouraged to participate in the vigorous cultural, sporting and performance programmes. In 2015 Priory School won the Mock Legal Trial on the Isle of Wight, evidencing the standards our students reach.
