Hovertravel has become a full supporter of the Earl Mountbatten Hospice, the Isle of Wight’s only hospice, and is working with the Hospice to encourage even more walkers for the annual Walk the Wight event which takes place on 12th May.
Following a request from the Hospice and assistance from Hovertravel staff, to help walkers come over from the mainland, Hovertravel has added extra services to their normal timetable on 12th May. Earlier services will run from Southsea to Ryde at 0630, 0700, 0730 and 0830.
Hovertravel is also offering Walk the Wight participants a 50% discount on adult & child singles, period returns and day returns to Ryde for the event using the promo code WTW13 For walker plus one. Travel dates for the discounts can be between 11th and 13th May for those wishing to stay on the Island overnight.
To help mainland residents get involved, Hovertravel is planning a Yellow Day in their Southsea Terminal to promote registrations for the event. There will be a manned desk and help for anyone wanting to fill out the registration form.
Neil Chapman, managing director of Hovertravel, explains, “Supporting the Hospice is not simply a question of making a passive donation and our staff felt strongly that they wanted to become more involved in helping community events such Walk the Wight. So in addition to the extra services and discounts, Hovertravel has entered its own team called HoverWalkers; made up of staff who will be given the day off to Walk the Wight. ”
Neil will be leading from the front, committing himself to complete the main walk from Bembridge to The Needles in less than 6 hours.
