The Isle of Wight’s latest Nearly New Sale has raised almost £4500 for the national parenting charity NCT.The twice-yearly sale took place this April 2012 when charity fund-raisers welcomed 283 people through the doors of the Riverside Centre in Newport.
The Nearly New Sale of pre-loved baby, children’s and maternity clothes and equipment is the Isle of Wight branch of the NCT’s biggest fundraiser. It takes place twice a year and the next sale will be held in October.
This time around, Nearly New Sale Organiser and Wootton mum-of-one Liz Traill is waving goodbye to the role that she’s held since 2011. During her time as a volunteer, she’s organised four sales, broken local fundraising records, expanded the sale to include a second room packed with bargains, and helped win the branch a coveted NCT Gold Award.
Nearly New Sale Organiser Liz Traill says, “It’s been a huge challenge but I’ve really enjoyed the role. I am handing over to Danika Barber from this time next year and we’ll jointly run our popular October sale while Danika learns the ropes.”
“This time around I must say a huge thanks to the Riverside Centre and Artigiano for all the support.
Mum-of-two Danika Barber from Newport, says, “I recognised how important this sale is to the branch’s ability to deliver support to new parents on the Island. I can’t wait to get my teeth into organising the event and expanding it even further.”
