iPads in Education
The children in Year Two at Hordle Walhampton School have recently taken possession of a
large set of iPads which they are using in class to both support their learning and to extend the
The new technology is already being used and enjoyed by the children in their maths, creative
writing, language and science classes. They also intend to take the iPads with them on future
field trips and a planned museum visit where the photographic, video & sound recording and
design features can be further used for projects and presentations.
Introduced on a trial basis this term, Hordle Walhampton has future plans to extend the use of
iPads across the school.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for our pupils as the iPads change the way in which technology
is used in the classroom, putting it firmly in the hands of the children who are instantly engaged
and interested,” said Henry Phillips, headmaster.
Hordle Walhampton is proud of its strong association with Island families. Many of pupils
travelling across daily on the Lymington/Yarmouth ferry, whilst others make good use
of the highly flexible boarding arrangements. The school has an outstanding record of
