Parents of pupils who are currently in middle schools are being reminded of the importance of returning their school admissions forms by the 29 October deadline later this month.
As part of the Island’s new two tier education system, all middle schools will close at the end of the Summer term 2011 and arrangements for pupils currently attending a middle school are as follows:
- Parents of pupils currently in Year 8 who are applying for a place in Year 9 in September 2011 can apply on-line at www.eduwight.iow.gov.uk/admissions or by completing the application form which was supplied with the information booklet that was sent to all parents at the start of term.
- Parents of pupils currently in Years 6 and 7 will have received a letter informing them of the secondary school at which their child has been allocated a place. If parents want to express a preference for an alternative secondary school to the one allocated, they can do so by completing the application form which is available from the School Admissions office at County Hall in Newport. There is no on-line facility for these applications.
The final deadline for all application forms to be received by the council is 4:30pm on Friday 29 October.
Any parents with questions about the application process, or wish to seek additional information, should speak to the council’s School Admissions Office by calling (01983) 823455 or by email to firstname.lastname@example.org
Parents of children who are due to start primary school for the first time in September 2011 will receive their admission packs during the first week in November with a deadline for admissions forms to be received by 4:30pm on 14 January 2011.
The council will subsequently process the admission forms ahead of National Offer Day on 1 March 2011, when letters, and an email for those who applied online, will be sent to parents
