After three and a half years Mick Smith, Centre Director, is leaving Quay Arts. Deputy Director, Jo Cowan will take up the position of Acting Director for an interim period.

Mick, who will continue to live on the Island, will be taking up his new London post, co-ordinating voluntary and community organisations in Tower Hamlets, starting in June.

Mick said, ‘I have thoroughly enjoyed working at Quay Arts and am happy to be leaving it with a strong programme of events and with such an experienced and enthusiastic team. I am delighted that during my time at the Quay we broadened our reach through outside projects and events.’

Jo, who has a background in Fine Art and has worked at the Quay for three years said, ‘This is an exciting opportunity and I am delighted that I will be more involved in the diverse programme of events planned over the summer. As well as returning to the Isle of Wight Festival to deliver the Kashmir Café, which provides Island musicians with an opportunity to perform, we have a major exhibition and exciting Summer School programme lined up.’

Chris Reed Trustee, stated, ‘We would like to thank Mick for the work he has done in moving Quay Arts forward over the last three and a half years. We are delighted Jo will take up the position of Acting Director and are confident she has the enthusiasm and experience to deliver the full programme of events and activities planned.’
