News from Ventnor Theatre Group
Rehearsals are now in full swing for this year’s summer production ‘My Girl’ and tickets will shortly be available to purchase from the Winter Gardens Box Office on 857581. If you enjoyed ‘Buddy’ last summer, winner of the County Press Award’s best musical 2008, you will not be disappointed! Be sure to book early for what promises to be a wonderful evening of top quality, nostalgic, entertainment.
Excitingly, this brand new musical is not only being performed in Ventnor, the story is set in Ventnor too! Set in the 1960’s this fictional story tells of the lives and loves of characters involved with an old theatre on Ventnor Esplanade called ‘The Gaiety’. The story and characters are fictional but the location is real and still exists, known today as the Gaiety Amusement Arcade. Take a stroll along the Esplanade and you can still see the dome of the old theatre amongst the roof tops.
Portrayed by a talented cast and supported by a fabulous band, this is a tale of what might have been, featuring live performances of some of the best popular music of the 1960’s, including hits from The Beach Boys, Elvis Presley, Aretha Franklin, The Beatles and many more!
